With the emergence of Smart windows looming, they are still being tested and not available yet. Scientist has come up with a great idea in energy efficiency. This country as well as others around the world have to begin to contribute to the concept of saving energy, there are many people who do their part in the conservation of energy but you also have the people who don’t and that makes for a lot of counter productivity.

Besides Smart windows there are other branches of technology that have the same goal as Smart Windows, every new product or new technology for a new product is geared toward helping the environment against the effects of global warming.

One such technology is called Thermo chromatic; this is a type of material that changes the optical properties when a change in the temperature changes. Mostly the materials are liquids and some are gel like substances that sit between the layers of the glazing. These windows are designed in mind to help block the sun from getting in. this technology does have one con, the glazing can shorten the amount of light that gets into the house.

The other technology is called Photo chromic. This material also changes its properties in response to the light. A pure example of this type of lighting is similar to the Photo gray sunglasses. When the properties change the amount of light that is absorbed is increased. On a sunny cold day, the material will take in solar heat and warm the room but on hot sunny days, they don’t lessen the amount of heat taken in as it would on a sunny cold day. Meaning that the windows would not be as reflective in the summer as the winter.
